Hi Sean,
I just got back from picking my car up after having your carb installed on it. It is a 1988 Monte Carlo. It has the stock L69 305 H.O. Engine with an Edlebrock manifold, TES headers, Dynomax mufflers and an open element K&N; air filter.
Before your carb was installed the car ran good, but it felt sluggish and had a flat spot when accelerating. I also needed to pump the gas on startup. Now with your carb, it has no more flat spots. The car runs as if I just put a new engine in it. The tires spin at hard acceleration creating smoke (fun) and it chirps going into second gear. It downshifts much harder and passing is much easier with a lot of pull at high speed. The car did not act like this before. Its like a cork was opened up. Another Monte Carlo owner who has a SS drove my car and said my car is more responsive and faster than his. I gave him your number and he said he is going to get a carburetor his car as he drives it every day. Everyone seems to like looking at your carburetor also, it is like a piece of art.
Thank you for a great product, and fast delivery.

Sean,

Just a note to let you know that after a year sitting on the shelf and saying to myself that I need to install it, I finally did. I installed the Q-jet you had built for my truck a year ago and WOW. My first trip pulling my 5th wheel was great. I went from 4.5 mpg to 9 mpg, course I had a tail wind going and coming back from the trip, and this was over 4th of July. My second trip, I averaged 8 mpg with a little head wind. The weight of my trailer is almost 14k, with a 383 chevy for the pulling. I sent a pic of my 84 C20 with 4.10 rear and 700R4 trans. My plans now is to build a 454 and the 2nd on the list of things to do is contact you on a carb for it. 1st is to decide on how I want to build the motor. I want to thank you again for a great carb, changed my way of thinking on Q-jets, is to have you build it.

Hi Sean, just wanted to let you know my carb showed up today and it looks amazing, the visual restoration you did on it is perfectly detailed. I can’t wait to get it bolted on.
Thanks again,

Call Sean Murphy at Sean Murphy Inductions
He’ll custom build a stage 2 quadrajet specifically jetted/metered for your engine/drive train combo, it will run excellent right out of the box, way better than any box carb from Summit. Sean Murphy use to be a senior at Jet Performance until he opened his own business down the street (literally). There are a few guys on this board and a bunch on Team Chevelle that have used his carbs with excellent results. I own two of them, one on each of my cars.
Cost is $325-$350

I would look into a Q-jet. Sean at SMI did one for me about 4 years ago and it was a great running carb. Replaced a 750 Eddy and there was absolutely no comparison between the two. Throttle response was very good and was very reliable. This was on a 383 with a HR cam 219/227 @.050 lift was .510 on a 110lsa performer rpm, and sportsman heads. It was a 4000 lb car with a 700r4 and 3.42 gears. Best time was a 13.70 @ 101 mph. Great carb.

Anthony,
It’s hard to beat a well tuned Q-Jet on a mild street small block.
If it were me I’d send your Qjet to Sean at SMI and have him do his “Magic” to it. He will total go through your carb and “tune it” specifically to your car / setup.
I had Sean do Stage 1 mods on a Q-jet for my daily driver 84 C20 Suburban. No problems at all. Drives great! Give him a call, his price is very reasonable.
