After graduating from Southern Illinois University with a Bachlelors degree in Automovtive technology, Sean Murphy moved to California and began attending the Race Car Tecnonlogy program at chaffey College in Rancho Cucamonga Ca.
While attending classes Sean also was employed by Brad Urban's Carburetor Shop in Ontario Ca. During the time Sean was empoyed there the shop expanded rapidly, and he was soon named shop manager. with almost twenty employees, the shop was building/modifying hundreds of carburetors a month. The position of shop manager gave sean the opportunity to build carburetors for everthing from Nascar Wiston Cup to NHRA Pro Stock, while also attending races, test sessions and Dyno testing and tuning opportunities around the country.
After six year's with Brad, Sean was Hired by what was then known as Mike Jones Carburetion in Huntington Beach Ca. A shop that had a long history in the performance carbuetion business(started in 1968 as Jones and Young performance) and was extremely sucssesful in the 1970's & 80's. Under new ownership, it was struggling and Sean was hired to bring it back to a being a respected Carburetor supplier/modifier.
Eight years later it had taken on the named of it parent company, Jet Peformance, and was now named Jet Perfomance Fuel Systems. Jet currently sell carburetors to some of the largest performace parts warehouses in the country.
In 2001 Sean resigned as Operations Manager of Jet's Fuel Sytem division and opened SMI (Sean Murphy Induction) to be able to provide a new level of personalized service and Quality to his customers.
